Service Dog Director & Pet Dog Trainer
Hi! I’m Kayla.
When I was young, I always wanted to become a veterinarian. I helped at a vet clinic from age 12 until my high school graduation.
After coming home from a college, I realized I wanted to take on the responsibility of a dog. I got in contact with a family friend, Connie Deason with Majestic Manor Goldens and began working by bathing puppies and helping with picture day, eventually working to become a trainer.
During this time, I completed the Karen Pryor foundations and the certified training professionals courses - about eight months worth of training!
I typically worked in her home with 8-12 week old puppies, focused on potty schedules, basic obedience, elimination of unwanted behaviors and more. After realizing I wanted to turn dog training into a life-long career, I began searching for further training.
I chose to attend the Master Dog Trainer program at Highland Canine School for Dog Trainers in North Carolina. At Highland, I solidified my love for service dogs.
I have been with K9 Summit since the day we launched, Jan 1, 2022. I have trained several service dogs as well as hundreds of pet dogs.
I absolutely love what I do. I am now a mom, too, and it’s been incredible the ways motherhood ties into the psychology of dog training.
So thankful to be a part of the K9 Summit team as we work with owners and their dogs all over the world!
“Training often fails because people expect too much of the animal and way too little of themselves.” -Bob Bailey
